Informatics for Consumer Health National Cancer Institute

In 2009, Westat helped the National Cancer Institute (NCI) plan and conduct a summit for stakeholders in the field of informatics for consumer health (ICH). The success of that initiative led to the creation of a dedicated web portal, InformaticsForConsumerHealth.org. The objectives of this website are to serve as clearinghouse for evidence-based ICH products and foster collaboration and conversation among Federal agencies, researchers, funders, and product developers.

Westat designed and developed the site using the Drupal CMS—the same platform used by WhiteHouse.gov. It features a blog, automated RSS feed, searchable database of journal articles, and online forms for users to find and share information. Westat also assists in developing traditional and digital communications and marketing strategies to assist NCI in promoting the website.
